Golden delights: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside – these corn fritters are the perfect bite-sized treats for any occasion!
Ingredients You Need
- 1 cup corn kernels (1 ear of corn will produce approximately 3/4 cups of kernels)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
- Sour Cream & sliced spring onion for garnish
How to Prepare
- In a mixing bowl, combine the corn kernels, all-purpose flour, milk, egg, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together until the ingredients are well combined and form a thick batter.
- Place a frying pan on the stove over medium heat (150°C to 175°C). Add the vegetable oil and let it heat up for a minute. Make sure the oil covers the bottom of the pan evenly.
- Once the oil is hot, use a spoon to scoop up some of the corn batter and carefully drop it into the hot oil. Repeat this process, leaving some space between each fritter in the pan.
- Let the corn fritters cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn golden brown. Then, using a spatula, carefully flip them over to cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until it’s also golden brown.
- Once both sides are nicely browned, remove the corn fritters from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Your corn fritters are now ready to be enjoyed! Stack them up, garnish with sour cream and sliced spring onion. Alternatively, you can serve them with your favorite sauce or enjoy them plain as a tasty snack or side dish.
